Privacy & Cookies
Effective date: 23 October 2026
Who is responsible
Horizon Vantage (a sole trader business registered with the Companies Registration Office in Ireland, number SR9692490) is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: info@horizonvantage.ie.
The short version
If you click Accept analytics in the cookie banner, we count what happens on this site - which pages are viewed, which links are clicked, how far people scroll - so we can see what is useful and fix what is not. If you click Essential only, none of that happens: nothing is recorded and no identifier is created. You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings in the footer.
What we record if you accept
- The pages you view, and the page you came from (the referring website, plus any utm_ campaign tags in the link)
- How long a page is open and visible, and the deepest point you scroll to
- Which links and buttons you click (the link text and where it goes), and which sections of a page you reach
- That a form was started, submitted or failed - never what you typed into it
- Page-speed measurements (Core Web Vitals) for your visit
- Your country (looked up by our host from your connection when the request arrives; we keep only the two-letter country code), your browser, operating system and device type (mobile, tablet or desktop), your screen width in broad bands, and your browser language
- A random visitor ID and session ID created in your browser (stored in localStorage and sessionStorage, not as cookies) so that your visits and the pages in one visit can be linked together
What we do not do
- We do not store your IP address. Our hosting provider necessarily handles it to deliver the site, but it is not saved in our analytics data.
- We do not store your name, email address or anything you type into a form as part of analytics.
- We do not use advertising networks or third-party trackers, we do not follow you to other websites, and we never sell or share this data.
- We do not track you if your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, even if you click Accept.
Why, and our legal basis
The purpose is to understand how the site is used and to improve it. The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which is also what the ePrivacy rules require before anything is stored on your device for this purpose. You can withdraw consent at any time; withdrawing deletes the visitor and session IDs from your browser and stops all recording. Declining or withdrawing never affects how the site works for you.
Where it is kept, and for how long
- Analytics records are stored in our own account with our hosting provider, Netlify, and are visible only to us through a password-protected page.
- Individual records (which carry the random IDs) are deleted after 30 days.
- We keep daily totals - counts of visits, pages, clicks and so on, with no IDs and nothing that identifies a person - after that.
Storage the site needs regardless
Two small items are always on because the site cannot do what you asked without them, and are not used for tracking:
- hv-consent-v2 - remembers your cookie choice
- hv-newsletter-subscribed - remembers that this browser already signed up, so the form is not shown again
Our contact form and newsletter
If you send an enquiry or join the mailing list, we use what you submit to reply to you and, for the newsletter, to send updates. The enquiry form stores a copy through Netlify Forms and sends email through Brevo; newsletter sign-ups are held in Brevo. You can ask us to delete your details at any time.
How long we keep what you send us
- Enquiries - kept for up to 24 months after our last contact, then deleted. If you become a client, we keep project and invoice records for as long as Irish tax law requires (six years).
- Newsletter - kept until you unsubscribe (every email has an unsubscribe link), after which your address is removed from our mailing list.
- Email - our business mailbox is hosted by Zoho, so any email you send us sits there under the same retention as enquiries.
Who handles your data, and where
We use a small number of providers to run this site: Netlify (hosting, forms and analytics storage), Brevo (sending email and holding newsletter sign-ups) and Zoho (our mailbox). Some of these are US companies or may process data outside the EU/EEA. Where that happens, the transfer relies on safeguards approved under the GDPR, such as standard contractual clauses. We do not sell your data.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your personal data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. Email info@horizonvantage.ie. Because analytics records carry only random IDs, we can only find yours if you tell us the visitor ID shown in your browser storage (hv-vid). You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland: dataprotection.ie.
Changes
If what we collect changes, we will update this page and ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
